What is the requirement for 24 hour service? back to menu
NMEDA QAP dealers must have a system in place which allows customers easy access to an after-hours answering service, or service telephone number, or service beeper number. Subsequently, NMEDA dealers are expected to respond to a service call promptly, and provide emergency assistance as warranted. It is highly recommended for the dealer to outline their response system in writing, maintained with the dealer’s other standard operating procedures.
The after-hours service person responding is expected to:
NOTE: If the customer cannot complete the corrective action, the dealer is expected to advise the customer that a service person will be dispatched.

Service Personnel Qualifications:
Personnel designated by a QAP dealer to service and repair mobility equipment are to be knowledgeable of and certified by the manufacturer on the particular equipment to be installed, serviced, or repaired. The servicing dealer shall have service personnel certified to repair the level of equipment the dealer sells to the customer. Exceptions such as temporary repairs intended to get the customer to safety until permanent repairs can be made as described in 4.1 of the NMEDA Guidelines are allowable when not avoidable.

What do I need to do to drop or add a QAP category? back to menu
In order to drop a category, you must contact the QAP Coordinator by calling (800) 833-0427. If you would like to add a category, you must furnish NMEDA and the auditing firm with any additional documentation (i.e. - welding certificate for structural category and additional training certificates) and make the changes to your Quality Control Manual.

What if I'm late with my membership or QAP fees? back to menu
If a dealer is thirty days past due in paying NMEDA membership or QAP inspection fees, accreditation will be suspended until payment is received.

You can purchase "Make Inoperative" labels from NMEDA by filling out the supply order form and faxing it to (831) 962-8970 or visiting the NMEDA Store.

Where do I purchase QAP labels and when should I apply them? back to menu
QAP labels must be purchased from the auditing firm by filling out the NMEDA QAP Label Order Form and faxing it to (562) 529-7513.
QAP labels must be placed on all vehicles modified within the scope of QAP and/or sold by the dealer.

Who should sign off on the Quality Assurance Checklist if I'm the only technician? back to menu
If in the rare case that there is only one person qualified to check the work that is done in the shop, that technician must sign off on their own work. In any other case, another qualified technician must sign off on the checklist.

When should I update my Quality Control Manual? back to menu
Your QC Manual should be updated any time your address changes, you have a change of employee(s) or there is a change in ownership. You do not have to resubmit the entire manual, however. You are required to submit are the addendum and the affected section(s) by fax to the QAP Coordinator at NMEDA at (813) 962-8970 and the auditing firm at (813) 243-1314.

You need a minimum of 3000 Ibs capacity for each wheel pad and a printer is recommended.

Can I subcontract work to other dealers? back to menu
Yes, but it must be another QAP accredited dealer. Shops that subcontract structural modifications in their entirety will not be considered Structural Modifiers. Shops performing structural modifications that subcontract only their welding to certified welders will be considered Structural Modifiers.
